Monstera Deliciosa XL
Iconic, bold, and beautifully architectural—this Monstera comes pre-trained on a moss pole to encourage upright growth and dramatic fenestrated leaves. The pole mimics its natural climbing habitat, helping aerial roots anchor and thrive. Ideal for statement corners, event styling, or modern interiors craving a lush focal point.
Light:
Prefers bright, filtered light. In Gauteng, place near east- or south-facing windows. Avoid harsh midday sun—it can scorch the leaves.
Watering:
Water when the top 3–5 cm of soil feels dry. In summer, this may be weekly; in winter, every 10–14 days. Ensure the pot drains well—Monsteras dislike soggy roots.
Climate:
Thrives in warm, humid conditions. Indoor temps between 18–26°C are ideal. Keep away from heaters and cold drafts.
Humidity Boost:
Mist the moss pole and leaves 2–3 times a week, especially during dry Highveld winters. This supports aerial root growth and keeps foliage lush.
Soil & Fertiliser:
Use a chunky, well-draining mix—think compost, bark, and perlite. Feed monthly with a balanced liquid fertiliser during spring and summer. Pause feeding in winter.Moss Pole Maintenance:
Keep the moss pole moist to encourage root attachment. Use clips or twine to guide stems upward. Replace or extend the pole as the plant grows.
Pruning & Styling:
Trim yellowing leaves at the base. Wipe leaves gently to remove dust. Rotate the pot monthly for even growth.
Common Issues:
Watch for mealybugs or spider mites—especially in dry conditions. Treat with neem oil or insecticidal soap. Yellowing leaves often signal overwatering or low light.
